Born in 1968 in Gümüşhane. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1989. He completed his master’s degree on Sayyid Ahmad Khan and modernist movements. Within this framework, he worked at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in England. His doctorate was titled The Relationship between God and the World in Nesefi and Islamic Philosophers. He was a visiting professor at the Gregorian University (Rome) in the 2000-2001 academic year and at Georgetown University (Washington, DC) in the 2003-2004 academic year. He became a professor in 2005. During the academic year 2007-2008, he worked as a Fulbright Muslim Scholar at Birmingham Southern College as a faculty member.
He gave lectures and seminars at the University of Alabama, University of Montevallo, Samford University. He lectured at the International Ahmet Yesevi Turkish-Kazakh University (Kazakhstan) (2013). He is a member of the Fulbright Turkey Selection Commission. He served as the Head of the English Theology Department (2010-2012). He is currently the head of the Department of Theology at Ankara University Faculty of Theology. He gives seminars on Islamic Schools of Faith at SUSEM.
